I was so excited after watching this video, I started binding and forgot to quilt, luckily it was just a mug rug. This binding technique is great – I am better at hand stitching than machine stitching so this was perfect. The binding looks great. Now I need to find a tutorial on machine quilting.

@Britgirl58 you can see how to do the corners in Make a Baby Quilt – Part 4 -

Britgirl58 December 26, 2010 at 5:26 pm

I’m sorry you didn’t show what to do when you reach the corners.

Aviddiva1976 December 26, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Love these tutorials! I don’t have time to go for classes with my busy work schedule. This is SO helpful!! Thank you!

SuchaCaligrrl December 26, 2010 at 6:02 pm

You did not show us the corners :(

I love all the videos from the Missouri Quilt Co. I’ve been watching them over and over and have learned so much. But now it’s time to put what I’ve learned into action and make a quilt. Thanks for the great videos. Keep them coming!

The best tutorial on binding that I have seen. Even better than my sister-in-law explaining in person!

Thank you.

I have been wanting to learn how make binding easier for years. Thank you so much for a very easy to understand video. Now, for all those quilts that have been sitting in the closet for years with no binding !

jennydoan57 December 26, 2010 at 10:41 pm

@quiltycanuck I think it is called daydreams.

quiltycanuck December 26, 2010 at 10:54 pm

@jennydoan57 Thanks so much again Jenny, one last question..the yardage that you used for that top, what is the name of the line? I think I will buy some cherish Nature but I also like some of the prints in the quilt behind you as well.
Thanks so much again for your help!!

jennydoan57 December 26, 2010 at 11:16 pm

@quiltycanuck
The quilt can be made with precuts. We made a pattern called altered squares, using 2 layer cakes and cutting 1 layer cake into a four patch and 1 layer cake into an hour glass. It gives the same look and when you cut layer cakes, if you use the same number of seams they will come out the same size. You can see it on the blog…I think! You can also make a nine patch using a layer cake but you will end up trimming one block to be the same size as the other. Jenny

quiltycanuck December 27, 2010 at 12:07 am

@jennydoan57 Thanks Jenny for the response! Could this quilt be made with precuts?

jennydoan57 December 27, 2010 at 12:26 am

@quiltycanuck ,
The quilt is designed by us using yardage. It is a nine -patch block paired with an hour glass block. The yardage is mostly Deb Strain. She has a new line out called Cherish Nature where she uses a lot of those same teals and browns! I am glad you like it. Thanks for your comments. Jenny

quiltycanuck December 27, 2010 at 1:11 am

Great tutorial!! But what I really want to know is who designed that quilt behind you, and who is the fabric designer?? I love it!

jennydoan57 December 27, 2010 at 1:56 am

Hi Nancat, I show the binding ends meeting on the tutorial using the binding tool and also the tutorial for the beginning quilting series! Check them out! and enjoy! Thanks for your comments, Jenny

nancat362 December 27, 2010 at 2:50 am

I agree that you should have shown the corners folded out and why on earth didn’t you show us how to join the binding ends where they meet?!

ivguido December 27, 2010 at 3:15 am

I really love your tutorials! I do have a question/comment though…it would have been really great to see how the corners came out and how you did them! That’s what I think I’m going to have trouble with….any information would be greatly appreciated…keep those tutorials coming!!!

songbirdsmile December 27, 2010 at 4:13 am

Oh my goodness, this was the best tutorial on binding ever! My first and only quilt was a doll quilt for my daughter that I made almost two years ago. It was sooo easy…til I got to the binding. Other tutorials were so confusing, I just never finished it, nor started another. This makes it look simple! Thanks so much for this video. Your others are great, too. I’m finishing that quilt this weekend!
