www.kidssewing.org -- Favorite Sewing Fabrics Cotton Quilting - Kids Sewing... In this Getting Started Sewing video clip of favorite sewing fabrics, Katrina Marie will show you cotton quilting fabric. You will need cotton fabrics to make many of your sewing projects. The amounts that you need will depend on the projects that you will be making. It is nice to start off with a collection of either a yard or half yard pieces. Typically, most of the Kids Sewing projects will take a quarter of a yard, a half yard, or 1 yard. If you need two yards, using a yard of one fabric and yard of another is fine. You can find your fabric by asking for it as a gift, shopping online, or at a fabric store. You may find fabric at Grandma's house or in your mom's stash too, but just make sure to ask if you can have it! All the fabrics shown have been washed and ironed. It's important to do this extra step because if your fabric is not washed ahead of time, it will shrink and end up not fitting. Fabrics come in an array of rainbow of colors and prints. When you look for fabric, you will want one that speaks to you or maybe coordinates and compliments what you are currently working on. So, look for fun cotton fabrics!
