How do you keep kids in the bed at night when you put them in for bed?

I have 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl. Everynight my husband and I put our kids to bed. We do the tell a story or read a book, tuck them in and all that. Then we tell them to stay in there bed and go to sleep. It never fails that everynight they get up and beg for something; he called me a name or I need a drink ,oh wait I have to tell you something. We have tried everything putting them back to bed and not saying anything. Takeing toys away. We are just about to lose our minds. Our daughter never does this only the boys. Please Help Us!!!

It kind of makes you want to staple their pajamas to the bed doesn't it? It is a proven fact that there is a chemical in milk, turkey, and apples that promotes healthy sleeping. Give them a "snack" before bed and that may help. Also if you will take them for a walk before they get ready for bed it makes them tired. Also (yes it sounds weird) but if they get out of bed when you ask them not to, stand them up facing toward the wall with their noses barely touching it. Don't let them move at all while they are standing there. It makes them so tired after five minutes they are begging for bed!!!

These things have two very negative effects on children. First they can distract their sleep by forcing in thoughts of their favorite episodes instead of concentrating on rest and relaxation which they should be doing at night. And also they sub concisely put into their heads that acting like their favorite television character is alright in real life. This can lead to many stunts and believe me you do not want your child trying to fly like superman, out of their bedroom window. That is why it is important to remove posters and to keep them away from commercial bedding.
