Discretion is a pervasive phenomenon in legal systems. It is of concern to lawyers because it can be a force for advancing the broad purposes of law and subverting them. For social scientists this phenomenon is an important form of decisionmaking behavior, one in which legal rules are merely one force in a field of pressures and constraints that drive certain courses of action or inaction. This book presents a variety of analyses of legal discretion by lawyers and social scientists who have made discretion and its uses a central part of their scholarly concerns. The first camouflage uniforms with the pattern of interruption (called Fight against deterioration of the standard uniform - DPCU) were issued in 1983 for testing. In 1986, the final production version was presented with a series of changes. It is in part influenced by trends in camouflage early U.S. as "Duck Hunter" / "Frog-Skin". DPCU has been developed following the photographs aerial land of Australia to determine what colors and models would be most suitable for camouflage.

During the 1990s a system of color Auscam has been modified to be used for units of force against force OPFOR during training exercises. This trend has been in the same style as the standard DPCU but characteristic light brown and green and appeared redder in color, at least, to resemble a "Russian" style template. The colors are dark brown, medium brown, light brown, red blood while on a beige background. It was used sparingly in several years, but not issued widely due to costs associated with putting in a different uniform with only minor changes in color only for use as an OPFOR uniform.
The desert camouflage uniforms have been called "clown suits" by the U.S. military operating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
