This was an excellent vlog. I am just beginning to quilt my first quilt-did one row of quilting and had to take it all out because of all the tucks and gathering. So disappointed.Had no idea what to do or what I did wrong. While watching your vlog -I’m shaking my head-up and down, yes that is my problem-Thank you soooooooo much. Going to see if I can get it figured out now. So very much appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Blessings

@dawn777771 Hi Dawn, as someone else pointed out – a lot of times puckers just disappear once the quilt is washed – so don’t worry about the ones you see, okay? And thank you so much for posting your comment – it means the world to me to know that I really did help someone with a sewing or quilting issue! That’s what keeps me going when I am wondering if anyone really wants to see the goofy videos I make :) Marguerita

My pressure foot was set to a number 3 for thick material like jeans and so I thought this must be the highest. But when I moved the knob down to a number 1 I can get my quilt in easily so maybe, just maybe, my next quilt will turn out better! You helped no end. Especially when you said how it is the crosswise lines that cause the problems in particular because that is really what happened to me. The material could do nothing but…pucker! You’re a star. Thankyou so much.

Oh wow Marguerita. Thankyou so much for this. I’ve just quilted my very first quilt and I was having such a struggle to get it under the walking foot and it is full of puckers…all on the front, lol, and the back is really wavy. I think it wins the prize for the waviest puckeriest quilt, lol!!1 I hunted online and could find nothing to help me until I came across your tutorial and everything fell into place! I’m NOT the only one who has struggled with a quilt!

This is an excellent video and was VERY helpful before starting my quilting project. It makes all the difference in the outcome of how the quilt turns out. Thanks MM

@kcsmom11 Awesome! I am so happy that my videos help :) If you have any questions when you get the book, just let me know, okay? ~M

Marguerita, thank you so much. I knew there was such a thing, that I could lessen the pressure on the foot/fabric but I could not see where. I really am learning quite a bit from your tutorials and I ordered your book “Crazy Quilts” it should be at my home within the next few days. YAY

First of all, it’s no problem for me that you speak slowly; in fact, I like it. Better to speak too slowly on a how-to video than too fast. I really liked that you did a video on this subject as it was something I needed to hear. Somehow, I’d forgotten all about the advantages of changing the pressure on a presser foot. And using the word Goldilocks helps me to remember this technique. Nice going, Marguerita!

@YouTwoToob I am so happy to help! I do hope that this works for you but the biggest deal is this – “any quilt that is finished is PERFECT” That’s my motto and I’m sticking to it. As one person noted, puckers can wash out and it’s far better to finish the quilt than to worry about a few puckers. Hurray to you for helping a young person with their sewing and quilting!!!

    YouTwoToob October 19, 2011 at 8:34 pm

Thanks very much for posting this. I’m helping a teenage friend make a baby quilt for her soon-to-be-born little sibling, but I don’t have much quilting experience myself. I didn’t know about adjusting the pressure on the presser foot, and the little quilts I’ve made before have all had puckers. Thanks to you, my young friend’s first quilt will (hopefully) be pucker free. :-)

    CrazyShortcutQuilts October 19, 2011 at 9:23 pm

@luckylindy333 I hope it helps! I can’t wait to see your finished quilt – and remember “Done is better than Perfect!” See you over on the Quilting Board, Marguerita :)

Thank you! Now I know why I have puckers and I can fix it. Very helpful!

    YOZcreative October 20, 2011 at 2:52 am

Today I had such problems when sewing. I kept loosing the upper thread all the time. If not loosing it it was was twisting itself together somehow so I constantly had to cut it off and start over. I was cleaning the machine and it turned out better. But now I got to think, it might been the pressure settings….

    CrazyShortcutQuilts October 20, 2011 at 3:51 am

@baire702 Hi, I am not sure I know what you mean but if I can I would like to help. Are you having problems with your thread tension or the pressure settings on your presser foot?
