Tea Cabin

What is a great honeymoon spot.. Carribean..?
We're looking between like 2000 and 4000 dollars.. most likely in the Carribean islands.. please suggest islands and resorts/hotels/etc.
and we've already been told not to go on a cruise.. so please dont suggest a cruise. I mean i know that they're "all inclusive" and you get to see many islands. But also the cabins are small, its crowded, you only get to spend like one day on an island doing just basically one excursion and that's not our cup of tea..
You might be hard pressed to find a very good land resort in the Caribbean for under $4,000. Believe me, I've looked, and it's hard. Try talking to a travel agent and see what they have to offer... To get a luxury resort for a week, you're going to be looking at close to $6,000 (not including the flight). I'm afraid anything below $4,000 or less would be comparable to a cruise stateroom, I'm afraid.
Not all cruise staterooms are small. It depends on what ship and what cruise line you choose. You might actually be surprised at what they have to offer, and they're actually no more crowded than, say, the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, or a Ritz-Carlton. If a big ship isn't your cup of tea, try and book a smaller ship. But you're right, some people can't handle cruises (the biggest reason being sea sickness, but there are ways to avoid this completely), but you never know until you try. And there's TONS to do when you're ashore. The options are numerous. Whoever told you not to go on a cruise has every right to their opinion, but you shouldn't judge something on what someone told you (not even me. That's why I say to find out for yourself). I'm sure they have their reasons, and they're probably legitimate, but they may have a different taste than you. You may end up loving cruising, while they may hate it, just as they may hate a certain movie that you may love. It's the same principle... There's a reason why it's quickly becoming the number one way to vacation/honeymoon.
Back to the land resorts. I am actually looking at prices right now (between February and April. You gave no date range. Date and time of year make a huge difference on price) at all-inclusive resorts for islands, such as Barbados and St. Thomas, and I'm not seeing anything less than $4,000 (not including flight). There were some beach-side hotels, but they seemed pretty big (back to the "crowded" issue), and wasn't sure if they were inclusive. You should try to get an inclusive deal, if this is how you want to do this vacation. If not, from experience, you're going to be spending tons of money eating out... And you may eat at a place that, for sanitation reasons, may not be the best place.
One more downside to a land resort in the Caribbean. If you're vacationing in the summer/early fall seasons, you run the risk of hurricanes. If one unfortunately heads towards your island, you're in for a miserable time. If you're on a cruise ship, they can divert and miss the storm, and head to another port that's out of the way and has much better weather. The odds are technically for you in the event of a hurricane hitting your island, but the risk is always there. It's also something to consider. The best time for a land-resort vacation to the Caribbean is in the winter/early spring months.
My last word would be to talk to a travel agent, but to also venture the cruise idea again. Take it from me and a million others when I say that a cruise is an amazing experience that everyone should try at least once. Don't get me wrong, land vacations are fun and have their attractions, but a cruise is truly a unique and addicting experience.
